Hajj is an act of worship in which a pilgrimage to Makkah is performed. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and is performed once a year during the Hajj season (Shawwal, Dhul-Qi’dah and the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah). Manasik Al-Hajj (rites of Hajj) are performed on the last month of the Islamic Hijrah calendar (from 8th – 12th Dhul-Hijjah). It is obliged by every healthy and financial Muslim to perform Hajj at least once in a lifetime.
﴿ٱلۡحَجُّ أَشۡهُرٌ۬ مَّعۡلُومَـٰتٌ۬ۚ فَمَن فَرَضَ فِيهِنَّ ٱلۡحَجَّ فَلَا رَفَثَ وَلَا فُسُوقَ وَلَا جِدَالَ فِى ٱلۡحَجِّۗ وَمَا تَفۡعَلُواْ مِنۡ خَيۡرٍ۬ يَعۡلَمۡهُ ٱللَّهُۗ وَتَزَوَّدُواْ فَإِنَّ خَيۡرَ ٱلزَّادِ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۚ وَٱتَّقُونِ يَـٰٓأُوْلِى ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰب﴾

Madinah was also referred to as Yathrib and Taba by the Prophet (PBUH). Visiting Madinah is not part of Hajj, but it is a highly recommended act.
((صَلاَة ٌفِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلاَة فِيمَا سِوَاهُ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ , إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ ))

As part of the package Hajj Ltd will arrange coaches to visit the Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) Masjid – in this Masjid you will visit and the Prophet’s (PBUH) grave and his two companions Abu Bakr and Umar. We will also take you to visit Masjid Quba, Martyrs of Uhud and the Baqee cemetery.
Visiting the Prophets Grave
Try to perform Salah (two Rak’at) in the area called Raudah-tul-Jannah. This area is marked with a different colour carpet close to the front of the Masjid.
((مَا بَيْنَ مِنْبَرِي َوبَيْتِي رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ))
“Between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise”. (Muslim)
Qubaa’ Masjid was the first Masjid build by the Prophet (PBUH). It was built before the Prophets (PBUH) Masjid in the Madinah.
((مَنْ تَطَهَّرَ فِي بَيْتِهِ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى مَسْجِدَ قُبَاءٍ ، فَصَلّى فِيهِ صَلاَةً ، كَانَ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ عُمْرَةٍ))
“One who does Wudu’ at home, then offers prayers in the Quba Mosque is entitled to the reward of an Umrah”. (Ahmad, Nasa, Ibn Majah and Hakim)
Martyrs of Uhud
It is recommended to visit the graves of the Martyrs of Uhud. Among the Martyrs of Uhud is Hamzah ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib, the Prophet’s uncle (RA).
